Wanted some info regarding Mig welding for Titanium...i am currently facing problem of black colour soot formation during welding..if u have sm information regarding the same then pl share.

Yes it is advisible to do cold forming on titanium.
Precauions:
 
1) Cut edges should be free from oxides/any other impurity.
2) While forming use SS liner in between the die & base metal.
3) Use more no of strokes while pressing because Ti has high spring back action.
4) If any crack occured, repair it by welding, no issue
 
Do not go for hot forming.

Dear Friends
I have aquerry about Titanium Gr 2 material D/E of 10mm thk forming
i) What are the precautions to be taken during Forming of Titanium Dished End in cold to avoid crack
b) Is it advissible to form in cold?
ii) If it is to be formed in Hot condition what is a recomended temp and what should be treatment require to be given after forming i.e. renormalising  If so , is it required to foerm in Controlled atmosphere
