- Recommended maximum allowable hardness is 248 HBW for process plant and refinery applications and 275 -300 HBW for utility services.
- Hardness testing is typically performed using portable Telebrinellerhardness tester or equivalent.
- Welds failing the hardness test are typically re-heat treated (no more than 2 times) or removed, re-welded, heat treated and tested for hardness.
