Good day dear experts
I have trouble understanding the meaning of "major repair " as per API 653. 3.23
We have done some tank bottom repair work on a fuel tank as per API 653. We had to cut an envelope into the tank shell (300mm x 2000mm) to get the repair plates into the tank. Is it a requirement as per API 653 to carry out a hydrostatic stand test.
The envelope is cut out of the "critical zone" area and no repairs were done on the tank floor within the 'critical zone'. Does the envelope constitute a major repair?
Your advice would be greatly appreciated.
Best regards
