[MW:15300] Re: PWHT holding temp exceed by 10 deg out of specified limit

The PWHT temp mentioned in the Code is Minimum. The Code does not specify the Maximum limit. However, the PWHT shall be done inline with the PQR Qualified.

Basically your mentioned PWHT temp 590 +/- 10 is incorrect. the Minimum reqd is 593 deg C and if you are lowering the PWHT temperature from the minimum, you need to prolong the holding time as per Code.
According to your specified temp the PWHT can be done at 580 deg C also which requires extended Holding time

As far as the current situation, PWHT at 610 will not be a objectionable temp

Dear ALL,

While reviewing PWHT chart, I found that for IS 2062 E250 B, 50mm butt joints holding temp found exceed by 10degree (Required 590 deg +- 10 deg and observed 610 deg).
My question is 1) Is it acceptable?
2) what will be the effect on joints by exceeding 10 deg temp out of specified limit?
3) Does code permit to do PWHT again on same joints in specified limit of temp?

Thanks & regards,
