If Client is adamant in saying that Cast iron is not acceptable in Oil & Gas Industry then you Client has little information about Oil & Gas Industry.
This is what I had done, if I were you- Raise a Technical Query and ask them to cite reference from code or spec.
ASTM A39524 ductile iron may be used for compressor cylinders, liners, pistons, and valves. Impellers may be produced from UNS G43200 and a modified version of UNS G43200 that contains 0.28 to 0.33% carbon provided it is double-tempered at 621°C (1,150°F) minimum to produce a maximum yield strength of 620 MPa (90 ksi).
There may be some strength issue.

>Dear Experts,
One of our leading Client has rejected the Centrifugal Water Pump on the basis that Cast Iron is not acceptable in Oil and Gas industry.
The Cast Iron has been used for Casing and Impeller, Material: ASTM A395 Gr 60-40-18.
The Design Code for Pump is ASME(Form A2).
Purpose: This pump is a used for cooling the oil for the Cylinders of a Gas Compressor.
Moreover. the requirement that Cast Iron is not acceptable is not specified in Client Standard/Specification.
I request all experts in this subject to through more light and let me know if you require any further inputs.
Appreciate to see quick response.
Thanks & Regards
