[MW:14308] RE: 14299] COATING ON SS

Hello Lassad,

Does your client have any preferences or specifications on the types of paints to be used? If not otherwise read through clause 5.5 of the attached DNV spec. It' a free download in the web.

The other option would be to look in Norsok M-501, coating system 6 &7 (highlighted).

Let me know if it helps.316L stainless may require application of marine paints, since its prone to pitting in sea water environment.

Thanks.

Subject: [MW:14299] COATING ON SS

Gentelmen,
We are fabricating a SS 316L Fuel Gas scrubber
For PP reasons, an insulation layer has to be applied. The client was asking to apply  an anticorrosion coating to the stainless steel material of the vessel for corrosion protection in marine environment.

In our experience we never did that for SS.

What do you think?.
Is there any STD/Code that force that?

Design code: AMSE VIII Div 1
Location: Offshore Plateform
