Hi experts, in our lean amine pump shaft, because of rubbing action between bearing & shaft, severe grooving (wear) in order of 1.5 mn deep observed. Shaft material is AISI 4140 quenched & tempered. What kind of welding procedure to be followed for weld buildup? What r the preheating, pwht requirements? is it crack sensitive material while welding? Any major alteration in mechanical properties will b there after welding? We want to carry out approx 3 mm weld buildup & subsequent machining to required dimensions. Plz suggest. Regards, Jitesh.
