RE: [MW:13188] Radiographic Examination

As per my understanding UW 11(a) 5(b), radiography of T joint in not a code requirement. Usually it is mentioned in project specification.

Dear All,

Pl.update the the following.

ASME Sec VIII Div.1 ,2010 Ed,W-11,5(b) ,Category B or C butt welds
(but not including those in nozzles or communicating chambers except
as required as above) which intersect the Category A butt weld in
vessel sections or heads or connect seamlesss vessel sections or heads
shall,as a minimum,meet the requirements for spot Radiography in
accordance with UW-52 .Spot radiographs required by this paragraph
required by this pragraph shall not be used to satisfy the spot
radiography rules as applied to any other weld incremet.

Is this explains about  T joint RT requirement?

Hi,  You are correct, Minimum refers to the one cycle for which this part will expose until final work shop PWHT. hence mill test certificate shall include this.  Max. SPWHT, refers to additional cycles of heat treatment that are reserved for future repairs during equipment lifetime.  Again, these simulated no. Introduction The colour formed when stainless steel is heated, either in a furnace application or in the heat affected zone of welds, is dependent on several factors that are related to the oxidation resistance of the steel.
