Dear Vikas
Many thanks for your input....but I am still not sure how to use both the material test specimen together as one is pipe and other is plate material (SA 516 Gr. 70 has different Group no. but P no. is same).

1) Only one WPS/PQR can qualify your range.
2) You can qualify the same using a 20 - 22 mm Plate coupon.
3) Filler to be used - ER 70S2 & E 7018 for SMAW.
4) You can qualify with Single -V Butt Joint.

Dear All
I have to make a WPS and PQR for Pipe ASTM 106 Gr. B (P no. 1and Gr.
no.1) and Dishend SA 516 Gr. 70 (P no. 1 but Gr. no.2) both 40mm thk &
24" dia using GTAW Root and Hot Pass then SMAW for the remaining
passes as per Sec. IX of ASME.
Kindly give your input on below points.....
1) Is it possible to make only one WPS for the above processes?
2) What should be the joint design for both and also SA 516 Gr. 70 is
not available in pipe?
3) What should be the recommended filler rod and Electrode to be used?
4) What thickness of pipe to be used to qualify the above WPS so it
can for the production weld?
5) What should be the preheat temp and Interpass temp?
If you have any sample WPS and PQR for this then Pl do forward it to
me.
Looking forward for your reply.
