Re: [MW:12659] Tank Air testing Procedure.

I suppose you built a ship which is inspected by a classification society. If this is the case they have rule books , which describe the testing to be carried out. The rules of American Bureau of Shipping and Bureau Veritas are available at their website ( www.eagle.org and www.veristar.com).
For air testing  the practical procedure is the following apply 0.20 bar for some minutes, and reduce the pressure for examination to 0.12 bars. The welds shall not be covered by coating during inspection.

The weldings shall be checked by soap solution applied by spray .
In case of newbuilding the tanks may be tested by applying the liquid which the  tank is intended for.
best regards,
