[MW:12683] Re: IGC test as per ASTM A 262 - 02a Practice E

Dear Sir,
Thanks for your reply . here i have another quary :
Our client specification is silent about the IGC test for the material ASTM - A 312 TP-321. ASTM A 262 shows  sigma phase in titanium or colombium stabilized alloy which may or may not be visible in micro structure , can result high corrosion rates in both the nitric acid  & ferric sulfate sulfuric acid solution.
Is it acceptable for establish the PQR  ASTM A 262 PRACTICE E for the material TP-321 which contains   titanium .

Regards
Pradip

Pradip,

Please see the attached specification for your reference.Look through the highlighted texts.Green ones are of more relevance.Clause 31 explains the acceptance criteria.

If you have any concern feel free to drop a line.

In a nutshell, 24 hrs boiling in acidified CuSo4 solution in as welded or sensitized condition, followed by bending(Mandrel dia, 3t).Absence of any  crack macro or micro is the indication of passing the test.

Thanks.
