[MW:12366] Machining 2" weld neck RJ flange to get blind flange

Dear All

It has been proposed to machine 2" weld neck flange solid forging to API 6A Type 6BX   blind flange. I dont think there is an issue from metallurgy side of things however, after grinding , I think the product will no longer confirm to its original design criteria/stress calculations of API 6A.
Can anybody please provide any reference clause to standard 6A or ASME standard to support the same (restriction to grinding/ machining the flange).

Moreover, 2" weld neck flange would have a hole in the middle and blind flange is a flange with no centre bore. I dont think it is possible to machine weld neck to get a blind flange.

Your input in this regard would be much appreciated.

Best wishes
