Re: [MW:11805] What is the rust grade in ST3 profile for A 537 Plate ..

Dear Mr. Suresh,

Rust grades and surface preparation steel surfaces are defined in ISO 8501-1 .

Rust grades  are defined as A,B, C  and D .

There are various methods for surface preparation of the steel surface viz, Blast cleaning (Sa), Hand and power tool cleaning ( St), Flame cleaning(FI).

St3 profile  is defined as very thorough hand and power tool cleaning. ( Refer the photographs as per  ISO 8501-1, for comparison.)

The requirement of surface preparation is defined by the paint manufacturer / consultant depending upon the required level of protection by painting.

With Best Regards,

Jignesh R Rana
