Re: [MW:11684] Re: E7018-A1 Electrod

In low alloy steel electrode classification, letters denote the weld metal chemistry
for example 7018-A1
                  8018-B2
                  9018-B3
A1---- weld metal chemistry is 0.5Mo
B2---                                  is 1.5 Cr+ 0.5Mo
B3-                                     is 2.25Cr+ 1Mo

if ur assembly goes PWHT, it is always better to 0.5Mo rod to compensate tensile and Creep
other wise u can very well use 7018/7018-1

Dear sir

The difference between E7018 it contains iron powderd content
E7018-a1 refers to  chemical composition in asme sec II part c search E-7018-A1 & read out notes point you get the answer of this
only the thing writeen in standatd A-Z refers only chemical composition of electrode

Zakaria,
The "A1" designation is for the addition of Chrome moly to the
normally full carbon steel filler metal mixture. It is normally used
for welding/ joining of P3 (Carbon .5Mo materials). In this case it
would not be wise or advisable (as the client has dictated) to use a
filler metal without the addition of the Moly. Hope this helps.
