Re: [MW:11624] Base material qualification range as per ASME SEC IX, QW403,QW424

as long as impact testing is not required by design for the base material, you can use for differnet group numbers within the same P number (refer QW424). you can use any of those PQR to weld the combination of group numbers.

Dear Experts...

Though my query is basic from ASME SEC IX.....i request you to give me detailed answer and guides from QW 403 AND QW424

Question: 1.  PQR qualification with P1 Group 1 to P1 Group 1.....What is the material qualification range??

Question:2. PQR qualification with P1 Group 1 to P1 Group 2.....What is the material qualification range??

Does PQR qualification with P1 Group 1 to P1 Group 1 qualify even for P1 Group 1 to P1 Group 2.

My organisation has previously qualified with ..for example P1G1(SA106 GrB to P1G2 (SA105 Gr 2) with out impact test and in the WPS Qualified material range is given as P1 G1 and P1G2.

On what basis this is considered.....please explain.

Thank you

Tony
