[MW:11553] consumable estimation for bidding purpose

Good day to all,

I have a task on estimate a welding consumable for a new project on bidding purpose. I would like to know how to estimate in quick method instead of calculate the pipe diameter, wall thickness, number of joints, etc.. ( take a few days )
I got the info that welding deposit is about 2% of total weight (structural) is it true?

regards,
Jemy
