Re: [MW:10955] Reg:welder qualification

Hi,
Construction Code? Let take this as ASME....
First you should have a qualified WPS.
As per Sec.IX,If There is a change in F.No. is an essential variable for WPS.How can you use the F.No.6 WPS to F.No.43?
If you have a qualified WPS for the require P.No.with the F.No.43,then you can proceed for WQT.
What type of fillet weld? (Plate to plate or Pipe to pipe or Plate to Pipe?).

Anyhow for Production assembly Mock ups can be used for WQT(Fillet Weld). Pls.refer QW-181.2.1 - ASME Sec.IX

Thanks & Regards,

dear experts,

we have dissimilar materials  (only fillet weld is coming) between P9 to P8,due to lack of material we want to conduct welder test on production joint it self.we have welders qualified in P9 (FNo.6) and P8 (FNo6),
but for now we are using filler wire ERNiCr-3 (F.No43) for dissimilar materials.how we can qualify welder on fillet weld.is there any applicable standard is there?pl let me know.

thanks & regards
