[MW:10963] pipeline welding

Sir,

I want to know in cross country pipeline , whay lowering & raising of pipes after root welding is not allowed. We are applying GMAW downhill for root, and FCAW uphill for remaining passes. In specification heiht adjustment is allowed after hot pass. What is the reason behind this //  OR if height is adjusted before applying hotppass , the pneumatic clamp inside takes some of the load away from the joint..

pls answer.

Regards.
