Re: [MW:10705] Tensile requirements for API 5L X 65

Minimum Tensile requirements is 77600 psi ,if the specimen breaks in the weld or fusion zone and the observed strength equal to 77600 psi or greater than it acceptable according to API 1104  5.6.2.3.
But check your project specification.

Dear All
we welded to establish a procedure API 5LX65 thickness 16mm material with E7016-1 and E7018-1 esab low hydrogen electrode.
some of my frient told me it is difficult to pass tensile test requirements of API 5LX65 and coupon sample may brack in weld metal.
Please guide me if you experienced this type of failure and if the coupon bracks in weld metal what value of tensile strength is acceptable?

Best Regards
Zaheer
