[MW:10712] Re: WPS Qualification / Pressure Vessel / ASME Sec VIII, Div 1

Hi,

Please refer UG-84(h)(2) of ASME Sec VIII Div.1'Ed'2010.

If impact testing is required in weld & HAZ when required by UCS-67,
the following shall apply.

For vessels constructed to the rules of part UCS, the test plate
material shall sitisfy all of the following requirements relative to
the material to be used in production.

(a) be of the same P-Number and Group Number;
(b) be in the same heat treated condition; and
(c) meet the minimum notch toughness requirements of UG-84(c)
(4) .......................

Means, one way or other, If you are using LTCS material for production
and requires notch touchness of weld and HAZ then the base material
used for Procedure shall be of same P No..(You can use ASTM A333 Gr.
6(P1G1) to ASTM A350LF2(P1G2) procedure) but you can not use ASTM A106
Gr.B even though it is P1G1 since it "is not the same heat treated
condition" as that of A333 gr.6.

Hope this will clarify!

Cheers!

Raj
