Re: [MW:10325] regarding using PQR & WPS

Hi,
You can use the WPS but check for the thickness qualified for GTAW process in that WPS.If GTAW process in that WPS is qualified for equal or more than 6.55mm , then you can go ahead.(For WPS Diameter is not an essential variable only thing you should have a qualified welder for this basemetal, dia and thikness, filler metal etc.,)

Thanks & Regards,

dear experts,

one of our client has approved a PQR qualified with the base metal is P5B to P5B.purging and Pre heat also done, having O.D.-4'',
thickness 14mm,process for root,hot pas,filler pass1 with GTAW,remaining filler pass & final with SMAW
my question is
we have same material & pipe dia  5" dia pipe,6.55 thickness, with only GTAW process only.now i can use that WPS where SMAW is also there.or i have to prepare another WPS with same PQR.

so please experts give valuable advice

thanks & regards
have a good day
