Re: [MW:10296] Existing Tank

Hi

As per API 653  Cl 12.3 , you need to do Hydrotest,

Since replacing the bottom plate considered as an major repair you have to do hydrotest

Dear All,
We have two existing tanks ( 20 years old) 3 mtrs height and 5.7 mtrs dia.. Bottom plate thickness - 8 mm.

As per client requirement we have shift the tanks to another place and also they want to change the Bottom plate.
1. As per API standard  or any other standards, if we change the bottom plate, which type tests are required for bottom plate inspection. My opinion is Vaccum Box and DPI or MPI tests are enough? or Any other tests are required?
2.And also if we are using  same bottom plate UT thickness guage checking and VB, DPI/MPI tests are enough? Is it acceptable?

Please share your experience.

regards,

P.Srinu
