[MW:10417] RE: 10409] RT with IR 192 for thickness 100 mm

Use high curie Ir192 ( 100Ci) to optimize the exposure time. Also use D7 films or equivalent two no.s ( double ) sandwiched between two lead sheets. Thus you can save 40% of exposure time of calculated exposure time for single film.
You need to obtain optical density minimum 1.3 H&D per film and while viewing the films, you need to view both the films by keeping one above the other combined so that the cumulative optical density is 2.6H&D.

Thanks

Yes it is possible to do with IR-192 with single film but the exposure time
shall be very high may be 8 - 10 hrs for this thickness. You can reduce the
exposure time by using double film but you will not get good results.
For more information you can consult our Level - 3 Mr. Ranjan Thakur also CC
in this e-mail on his mobile no +91-8010976571.

Subject: [MW:10409] RT with IR 192 for thickness 100 mm

Dear Sirs

We have to conduct RT on butt weld of plate thickness 100 mm. For this Co60
source is required. But since the norms are very stringent and has to be
done at a very short notice, CO60 source can not be obtained.

I am told that there is some RT technique using dual films which let us use
IR 192 source instead of CO60.

Please share with me whether it is possile, what technique is it and where
can i get an appropriate write up from.

Regards,
PRV
