[MW:10343] RE: 10319] regarding using PQR & WPS

As long as the GTAW deposit thickness is within the range qualified, you can use your original WPS.

See QW-200.4(a) last paragraph:

“  QW200.4 Combination of Welding Procedures

(a)     . . . When following  a WPS that has more than one welding process, filler metal or set of variables, each process, filler metal, or set of variables may be used individually or in different combinations . . .”

Subject: [MW:10319] regarding using PQR & WPS

dear experts,

one of our client has approved a PQR qualified with the base metal is P5B to P5B.purging and Pre heat also done, having O.D.-4'',

thickness 14mm,process for root,hot pas,filler pass1 with GTAW,remaining filler pass & final with SMAW

my question is

we have same material & pipe dia  5" dia pipe,6.55 thickness, with only GTAW process only.now i can use that WPS where SMAW is also there.or i have to prepare another WPS with same PQR.

so please experts give valuable advice

thanks & regards

have a good day
