[MW:10155] Time for a Welder Test to complete

Dear All,

Hi,
We usually conduct WQT in our premises but I have observed that the
time taken to complete the joint {Root + Hot + Fill + Capping
(excluding grinding/flushing in between)} varies from welder to
welder. Testing comprises of Visual & Radiography (No Mechanical
Testing)

So my question is "Should it be considered? Considering a Ø6" Sch 40
pipe in 6G position, our best welder completed the test in 25 minutes
with no indication. But some welders took about an hour or more. I
feel that if we look at the universal formula "S = V x T", time is
inversely proportional to Travel speed which make it directly
proportional to the Heat Input.

So is it OK to disqualify a welder based on time taken to complete
that weld?

Thanks & Regards,

M. Ali
