There should be + ve pressure of atleast 0.5 BG Nitrogen in equipment prior to gas-in to avoid air / oxygen entry in equipment/s. Oxygen should be absent in equipment or piping / pipeline and inert gas nitrogen should be present, min. 0.5 BG, just before introduction of hydrocarbons gases to avoid formation of explosive mixture.
