Manganese max limit as per ASME SA516Gr.60 is 0.90% for Heat Analysis and 0.98% for Product Analaysis.
 
But Note (B) of Table 1 Chemical Requirements states that for each reduction of 0.01% carbon below its specified limit(0.21%), Managenes can be increased to 0.06% above its max limit upto 1.5% for Heat and 1.6% for Product analysis.
 
So please check your carbon percentage in the MTC.
 
Also check the carbon equivalent in your specification and if it meets the requirement, Managense increase may not affect your properties like Hardenability,Hardness and Weldability. Hence can be accepted.

Dear all,
                  We have received MTC for SA 516 Gr.60 plate of 10mm thickness with manganese of 1.47%,the lab test also give the same.

is it acceptable as per SA 516 SPEC.

Please confirm shall we accept or reject the plates,we have procured more tonnes of materails & started fabrication?

what shall we do in this stage?

How to overcome this issue ,pls guide
