Re: [MW:9771] holding time


If you are hydro testing a vessel made of Sec. VIII, pls. referer UG 99 afor hydro test and UG 100 for Pneumatic test.

Generally its 1.3 times the MAWP X St / S (i.e Stress value S for the test temp on the vessel to stress value S fo the design temp.)

You can use pneumatic test in lieu of hydro if the conditions doesn't allow to use water. in this case its 1.1 times the MAWP X St/S

No specific holding time, it shall be pr. tested till we complete the visual  inspections for leaks

What is the holding time for vessel while conducting hydro testing and how to select the fluids? I knew it is 10 minutes if its piping if possible provide the code and para. Something like design pressure X 1.25………..
