Dear Mehta
Buttering weld is procedure to rectify wide gaps (root openings) greater than those permitted by AWS D11 (normally found in tubular joint in structural connection) and/or client specification, but not greater than 19 mm or twice the thickness of the thinner part, whichever is lesser. Procedure shall be qualified.
