RE: [MW:9243] BRANCH 3/4" FROM 4" LINE LP STEAM

Dear Zarei,

Srinivasulu is correct , it is not advisable.

Reason being – There will be a drastic reduction(i.e from 4” to ¾” ), leading to sudden change in Pressure and velocity of the fluid being transmitted, leading to safety issue.

Gap as wide as 40mm on each side is too large to be filled up by welding and I doubt if it is commercially viable. Concentric Reducer is will more cheaper and will be easier to weld to the main pipe I.e 4inch.

Usually it's not advisable to do that so.

Dear All,

Is it possible to weld pipe 3/4" to pipe 4" in LP steam service  in the form of Pipe to Pipe (we have no any sockolet or Halfcoupling, ...)?

Does it need REINFOCEMENT?

your reply is highly appreciable.
