Re: [MW:9191] RE: 9181] RELATION BETWEEN WPS & WPQ THICKNESS LIMITS.

Hello,

1. Validity ranges: A possibilty to find your answers can be found at www.gowelding.com
On the homepage you'll find "Weldprocedures". Click this item.
Then the page with range calculators (see att) will open.
2. A possible PQR - WPQ thickness limit relation: To my opinion there is no such relation. The ASME code separates very strict between skill judgement (performance testing) and technical suitability judgement (procedure qualification). There simply is no relation between both subjects.

Best Regards,

Huub.

Subject: [MW:9181] RELATION BETWEEN WPS & WPQ THICKNESS LIMITS.

Dear All,

Any body can clarify,

1)We have established WPS & PQR for P8 matirial,7.11 thick with  -196ºC impact.Based on this WPS, shall I qulify WPQ with 5mm  thick ?. If yes what will be the range of qualification.
2) Other WPS & PQR for P8&3.4 thik with  -196ºC impact. Based on this if  a WPQ is qualifide with 5mm thick, what would be the thickne range of qualification? Is it 1.7 to 6.8 or 2.5 to 10mm? give code reference.

3) Is there any relation between procedure & performance qualification thickness limits.Give me code reference.

Regards,
C.Venkatramulu.
