Welder qualification Code: EN 287-1, 2004 Edition.
Product type used for welder qualification: Plate
Welding position:PA
I have qualified a welder on 'PA' position in plate material. As per EN287-1 table 7, the welder is qualified to weld PA, PB positions and not qualified to weld any other positions.But foot note 'a' says, additionally the requirements of 5.3 and 5.4 shall be observed.So,I need clarification on the following queries as the clauses confusing me.
1. Is the welder qualified to weld pipe based on above qualification, if pipe diameter is, D≥150mm (PA, PB, PC) positions?
2. Is the welder qualified to weld pipe based on above qualification, if pipe diameter is, D≥500mm for all welding positions?
