Hi Kumar,

If you are qualifying WPS in accordance with ASME sec ix, it does't permit to do so, QW 404.37 is one thing also if you see not (9) of QW-453, Chemical analysis is one of the required tests.

In short, a WPS qualified with 316L for clad layer can be used for 316L clad layer only.

E309-L and E316L are both same F number(5) and A number (8),SFA number 5.4. So it is acceptable.

Each AWS classification of A-No. 8 analysis of table QW-442, shall require separate WPS qualification (QW404.37).
