Re: [MW:8778] RE: 0] How to remove magnetism from SA240 TP 304 L material.

Try passing AC thru it from a welding machine and reducing the current gradually to zero. Not so sure about Aust SS (I mean the reason, may be there is some other phase present or cold working could have introduced some dipoles...), but this has worked on other non Aust SS quite well. For all practical purposes, you need to lower residual magnetism  down to <6G. Heating was another method for non-Aust SS, which you say did not work in this case...

Dear Pablo
We have using this material in energy equipment. In plate form it shows slight magnetism ; But we have not its exact value. But this magnetism varies the end users electrical parameter. Hence we require the solution to remove  magnetism. we have already done solution analing at 1050 Deg. Celcius.

Hi!

TP304L is an austenic stainless steel. If there is magnetism, what is the value in Gauss or in Tesla?

Thanks.

Dear All

Anybody can tell how to remove magnetism from SA240 TP 304 L material.

Thanks & regards
