CO2 makes the arc easier, but it's not advisable for SS, in souch case my advice is : AR 0.69 + He 0.30 +O  0.1

Hello to everyone.

 

I like to add that using CO2 mixed with a little Argon will reduce the weld spatter in GMAW.

Hi

I have an opposite experience with what Mr.Karthik has mentioned in the trailing email.

GMAW produces lot of spatter and frequently welder has to change contact tips. LOF, silica inclusions defects are more.

FCAW produces very less spatter, good bead profile, better control and lesser defects. In fact we have achieved 100% RT/UT welds with FCAW. With FCAW you can weld with higher current densities, thus achieve more productivity than GMAW.

However cost of welding consumables of FCAW/kg is more than GMAW.

but finishing/quality GMAW is better than FCAW.
