Re: [MW:8523] Super Duplex

Dear Deepak,

ER 2594/E2594/E2595 are suitable to weld super duplex stainless steel as per ASME BPV SEC II Part C. GTAW filler wire will provide superior impact value compared to SMAW electrodes. As far as I know, lack of 'W' is not a major concern as long as process side is not coming in contact with weld metal deposited by E2594.We have successfully executed SDSS work for one of the major oil baron with ER 2594 and E 2594 combination.
Note:Review your client specification regarding SDSS welding and subsequent mechanical and corrosion tests requirement. If Critical pitting temperature test is only for process side of the root pass, then you can prefer ER 2594/E 2594 combination. If CPT is for entire weld cross section then it is better to go for ER 2594/E 2595 combination or full GTAW with ER 2594 depends on your parent metal thickness. However, CPT at higher temperature(+40C) is obtainable with proper welding procedure with GTAW and slightly difficult with SMAW.Temperature is keep on increasing, the welds are more vulnerable to pitting corrosion.

Yes, The attached electrode seems to be suitable for your application .

The more recommended would be E2595 instead of E2594, as suggested by ASME Sec IIC.
