Re: [MW:8521] 2"pipe repair..... Partial

Follow the following steps:

There is nothing wrong with partial RT or partial welding repair, it is well established practice in fabrication industry.

1. Mark the defect area as per the RT tracing
2. Remove the defective weld with the help of grinding (Groove shall be in boat shape to fecilitate the proper welding)
3. Carry out PT of the groove and RT in groove condition to ensure that defect is completely removed
4. Clean the groove properly to remove the PT residues (otherwise it will cause further defect in subsequent welding)
6. Carry out weld fill-up with the qualified procedure and WPS.
7. Carry out the PT and RT as final NDE.

Dear All,

Here I have a doubt regarding 2"pipe welding . While  work with 2" pipe, if repair comes and founded in Rt. What we have to do as per ASME SEC VIII Div.1. I found one company is doing partial repair and taking Partial RT. Whether it is correct? I couldn't conclude with this. Please suggest a good answer.
