[MW:8676] RE: 8665] Welding of T/P 23&T/P 24 Material

Limesh,

T-23 and T-24 steel are state or art materials used for super critical boilers, water-wall, headers. These steels are not easy handle as T-22 steel and require special care. The attached articles would provide you some guidance.

As regarding welding consumables there're not much choices, only a handful of very reputed manufacturers.

SA-213 provides the details on material requirements. The last article by Kent Coleman would be of interest, though it provides a general snapshot of CSEF steels.

Feel free to ask queries.

Thanks

Subject: [MW:8665] Welding of T/P 23&T/P 24 Material

Dear All,

Design Code: ASME BPVC SEC I

Welding Code: ASME BPVC SEC IX

I need your help as I am struggling in an unfamiliar territory. I have to weld the following materials. These material grades are totally unfamiliar for me. What are the precautions we have to take during fabrication of these materials? What would be the matching welding consumable to weld T/P23 to T/P 23 &T/P 24 to T/P 24?What would be the matching consumable to weld T/P 23 to T/P 24?Preheat and PWHT required or not? If yes, what would be the optimum range? It will be highly appreciated, if someone could provide some good literature on fabrication of these materials.
