Re: [MW:8187] Renewal of Welder Qualification

hi,

first say whether the said welder is performing welding? if so take a RT ON THE JOB and qualify code permits. if the welder performs welding continuosly without any repair qualification may be performed based on his RT or UT as per job requirement. you can revalidate the certificate.

Greetings,

Code: ASME IX

Process: GTAW

Diameter: DN50

Specs: ASTM A106

Qualification Status: expired

As per QW 322.2

Providing the conditions of QW-304 and QW
305 are satisfied, renewal of welder qualification under QW-322.1(a) may be
done on production work.

QW 304

Alternatively, welders making a groove weld using SMAW, SAW, GTAW, PAW, and
GMAW (except for short circuit mode) or combination of these process maybe
qualified by radiograph examination,

Does this sentence applied if the welder has welded
the following 3 months prior to his expiration
of his ASME qualification, welding as per below:

Code: DNV-OS-F101

Process: GTAW

Diameter: DN50

Grade: DNV 450

Can the welder renew his qualification on production work
as per QW 322.2, under this circumstances?

Does this production work means that it is the work that
needs qualified welders to do the work?

Thank you in advance.

Cheers,

Larry
