Re: Re: [MW:7622] Electrode Weaving Range

Hi Limesh

If you are crossing the weaving barrier as per manufacturer recommendation,i.e, 2.5 to 3 X dia of electrode, your travel speed becomes less and you induce "more" Heat Input in the weld joint as specified in the WPS. Thus if your weld calls for Impact requirements, then you are in trouble and you will get poor values.

Also excess weaving causes coarse ripples and poor bead appearance, which needs to be dressedup for clearing Visual Examination.

Dear All,

I heard about weaving ,which is applicable in SMAW.If I am crossing the weaving barrier as per manufacturer recommendation,ie,  2.5 X dia of electrode or 3 X dia of electrode what would happen?

Is weaving applicable in GTAW? If applicable what would be the weaving range?
