[MW:7670] RE: 7543] GMAW instead of GTAW +SMAW

Rupesh,

If your contractor have access to GMAW-STT process,  it would be worth exploring the possibility. Here're some references.This process is well proven for quality pipe work fabrication. However everyone has to go through the learning cycle and would take a some time to  get a total grip of the process. You may have to increase the Q.C level to fully implement and get the desired level of quality.

Our contractor want to use GMAW process inplace of GTAW+SMAW for cS pipe butt weld joint. Construction code is B31.3  . Can we quaLify OR use GMAW  inplace of Gtaw+ smaw process. Pressure is 15 kg/cm2g with full RT. Pls advice?
