[MW:7420] Dial indicating pressure gages - Range for hydro testing

Since this posting does not contain a meaningful subject line hence was not posted in the group, instead I am directly replying with changing the subject line. Members are requested to take care hence forth.

Dial indicating pressure gages used in testing shall be graduated over a range of about double the intended maximum test pressure, but in no case shall the range be less than 11⁄2 nor more than 4 times that pressure. Digital reading pressure gages having a wider range of pressure may be used provided the readings give the same or greater degree of accuracy as obtained with dial pressure gages (UG102(b) for Sec VIII div 1 vessels).

And many of the company standards indicate this requirement, for e.g. ARAMCO specifies

"The gauges must have a range such that the pressure specified for the test is between 30% and 80% of the full range".

Dear All

Can you please confirm as to which standard / code call for a Pressure gauge rating to be 2 times the test pressure of the equipment .

The second question is what do you mean by  the term   Mil

Thanks and regards
