Hardox weld should be used using soft electrodes.(Yield Strength Less than 500N/mm2).If your weld subjested to heavy wear it is recommended to use the hard facing electrode for the cap beads.
 
Hardox is weldable using the following electrodes.
 
SMAW - E7018/E7028/E8016
 
SAW - F7Ax-xx
 
MIG/MAG - ER70-x
 
FCAW - E7xT-x
 
Hardox 400 40mm combined thickness will need 75°C preheat  and the interpass temp should be kept to 150 - 175°C.
If preheating is a problem it is possible to weld without preheat using a 309L type electrode or wire, but remember stainless cannot be burned with standard oxy-acetylene.

               I want to do welding of Hardox 400 Plate to Hardox 400 PLate ,Thickness of both the plate is 40mm. What Type Electrodes I can use?
