Re: [MW:7118] welder qualification and use of alternate electrode

Dear friends,
1. SEC - IX PQR can be used for this structrual welding and E7018 H4R may be used instead of E7018 but thk of throat less than 16 mm only.
2.If thk more than 16 mm , should make new WPS/PQR with requirment of D.1.1 and another one optionin in D1.1 can be pre-qualified WPS based on sec D.1.1 Sec-3 .

Please clear my below queries----
 
 
1) Whether welder qualified as per ASME SEC IX can be used for Structrual welding as per AWS D1.1
 
2) Whether Electdoe E-7018 H4R can be used as a replacement for E 7018 (which was used for PQR Qualifications)  for  Structrual( angles of CS materials) welding.
 
3) Whether PQR is required  or not for Prequalified WPS as per AWS D 1.1
