Dear Azmi,
Please study the LM parameters which is the experimental study on optimization of properties at give temperature and time.
Normally C steel losses hardness, tensile strength properties as temperature increases. Touhness increases little bit up to certain temperature and time.
In case of low alloy steel there will be chances of secondary hardening after certain period of time at given temperature. So naturally it leads to increase tensile strength and hardness.
So to optimize the property Larsen and Muller carried out some experiments and derive some formulaes which give the idea that at which temperature and time one has to carried out heat treatment.
I will attach soft copy soon to materials-welding site.

--Dear All,Good day.what will be the effect of longer holding time and higher holding temperature during PWHT on Imapct, tensile and hardness properties of Carbon Steel and low alloy steels.Example: As per ASME SECTION VIII DIV 1- UCS 56 ( TABLE UCS-56),For 25 thk P1 Material Minimum holding temperature is 595 deg. celcius and holding time is 1 hour.If during PWHT for the above material(P1) the holding temerature exceeds to 650 deg celcius and holding temperatue exceeds to 2 hour, what will be the effect on Imapct, tensile and hardness proerties. Thanks in advance for your valuabale reply.
