Hi,
For welder qualifications it shall be 150mm length per side(i.e.,150mmx2pcs.) as a general practice.But as per code 75mmx2pcs (total length-150mm) is enough.
But for PQR,it shall be of minimum 150mm of weld length (as per code).for this you have to conside the diameter of pipe.If weld length of pipe used in PQR is less than 150mm,you have to use 2 or more specimens.Also for mechanical test,there shall be enough specimen length for testing (tensile,bend,impact if any etc.,) pls.refer with ASME QW-462 for test specimen dimensions.sometimes it may need more than 150mm of weld length.
