Re: Re: [MW:5469] storage condition of E6013

Dear All,

I do not understand why your people doing extention for this matter .Our ESAB employers as well as they are experts also in the manufacture role .they are clearly says that rutile type electrodes are NOT required any backing or holding untill validity time .

If anyone see any techincal code ,please show us with proof .

Thank you

Suresh

Dear all,

As a senior expert in MMA-electrodes since many years at Esab, I can confirm that E6013-electrodes shall not be rebaked or heated in any way. When manufactured, these electrodes are dried at a temperature below 100 °C. This is necessary in order to achieve a good binding of the coating. The final moisture content in the coating is around 1%, which is necessary for the welding properties. The coating also contains a sizable amount of organic material and water containing minerals.  The coating moisture will vary with the moisture of the ambient atmosphere,  normally within permissible limits.
It is recommended to store these types of electrodes under the same conditions as other types of electrodes, i.e. dry and protected conditions, in order to avoid any unnecessary rusting of the wire or coating damage.

Dear Mr.Phil,
Does it require any holding temperature? I ever read in one std/code but not sure.

Thanks.

P.Mahendran.

I am an ESAB employee and I can confirm that you should not bake a E6013 stick electrode
This is a rutile type electrode and does not require baking
