RE: [MW:5524] Active TIG?

This concept is not particularly new.  People have used various fluxing agents for many years.  The Edison Welding Institute, USA, has developed what I call “pixie dusts” or they call fluxes to enhance penetration on various materials.  Note, historically these fluxing agents appear to be workable only with automated GTAW.  Manual GTAW is too variable in arc characteristics to get consistent results.  Please see the EWI  web site http://www.ewi.org/products/ewi-deeptig.asp  for more information.

I do not use these products nor do I have any financial interest in the product or its sale.

Hi

It is the one upcoming process in india, still research is going at IGCAR , kALPAKKAM by Mr.Vasudevan .

I remember that , when i was doing my master thesis under Mr.Vasudevan of IGCAR KALPAKKAM, he has involved A-TIG research &  Holding the patent for this process in  india.

If any body want more details about this process, you can contact him for the further details.

Dear kesavalunanda,

Active-TIG welding ( hereinafter called as A-TIG welding ) is a welding method capable of drastically increasing further its penetration depth than in the conventional TIG welding by applying an active flux on the surface of steel product placed on the welding line. This welding method was proposed in 1960's, and is practically applied so that it can be easily used by the progress of recent research and development. By this, a drastic efficiency improvement can be materialized in TlG welding, drawing remarkable attention to it. which is such a new welding method.welding.
