[MW:5095] Corrosion Allowance for Tank Design as per BS14015:2004

Dear All,

Please clarify me the below.

We designed a Tank and send for approval to the client. As per the code there is nothing mentioned about corrosion allowance. As per the tender spec. there is nothing mentioned about corrosion allowance. We got this below reply from engineer.

It is normal practice to provide 3 mm corrosion allowance on shell & base and 1.5 mm for roof material. The requirement is usually from Clients project specifications.

In the present case there is no concern related to Shell as provided thickness is more than actual required thickness plus corrosion allowance. But for the base and roof material no corrosion allowance is available / considered.

As we do not know, if, there are any company project specifications to be followed,

Based on confirmation we will proceed to review and comment the drawing..

Kindly help Us.

Regards,
Vijay.
