[MW:4668] Pulsed GTAW for Tube to Tube and Tube Mill Applications.

Dear All,

Would like to know if there are any formulas available for considering the Pulsing Parameters (Peak Current, Base Current, Peak Time, Base Time (Pulse Frequency)) for using PGTAW for Tube manufacturing (Tube Mill) Applications. This is for SS3xx and SS4xx Series of tubes and average speed of 1 to 3 meters / min welding speed. Thickness of sheet (wall thickness of tube) is from 1.2 to 2.0 mm max. We want to increase the speed of production by being able to use PGTAW in place of normal GTAW.

On initial trials we are able to get better penetration and increased speed but on the penetration side the finish was not straight | | . It seemed like the arc was wandering.

Any experiences on the similar applications ? Suggestions ?

Regards,
